Skywatch Friday ~ Sunset on the Beach!

I realized that I hadn't taken any pictures of the sunset in quite awhile, so Andy and I decided to head to the beach.  As we were driving on the beach we were amazed to see cars parked everywhere and almost every vehicle had someone standing beside it snapping pictures of the sunset! I can't remember the last time I've seen that many people on our beach....I guess we all had the same idea! LOL

It really WAS spectacular!

You can barely see the silloutte of these little birds.  Right after I snapped this shot the sun was gone, so I didn't have a chance to adjust my exposure to make it a little bit lighter, but I still love these little birdies anyway!

Skywatch Friday ~ Indian Beach 12-7-09

We decided to go for a drive on one of our coldest days this winter and this is where we ended up. Indian Beach! The wind was bitter cold on the beach and of course we were unprepared and not dressed appropriately for the cold weather. These lighthouse pictures aren't as sharp as they should be do to my shivering. Andy was laughing at me, as I was shaking all over and my teeth were chattering uncontrollably. He even tried to hold me steady while I took the pictures! I think the first lighthouse turned out pretty good, but I had to try and sharpen the second one a little. It was quite an adventure......we even had to cross over some water on a skinny log to get where we wanted to go on the beach.....it was fun!

It was so beautiful!

There were no clouds in the sky, which was very strange to see!

I took this picture from up on top of Ecola State Park. I think I prefer the view from down on the beach!

These icicles were down on the beach. Brrr! It was sooo cold!

Skywatch Friday ~ A Drive On The Beach!

I've wanted to join SkyWatch Friday for some time now and I decided that today is the day! I'm not exactly sure if I'm supposed to post more than one picture or not, so please someone correct me, if I should only post one.

My husband and I took a drive on the beach recently and it was so beautiful that I just had to stop and take some pictures. The sky was lovely and the clouds were so cool in the last photo.

Collages Are Cool!

I'm finally finished with my last project.......WOO HOO! Now maybe I can take a breath before starting the next class. I ran into a couple of problems with this project, which means it took me way longer to do it, than it should have. It's always something really simple too and then I just feel stupid, when I figure it out! I guess maybe I should have thought about taking a basic beginners class first......nawww! LOL

Sunset at the Beach!

I've always loved watching the spray that comes from the waves crashing together!

I'm still practicing with my camera and I didn't find out until today that I wasn't using the right setting. :( Bummer! It's ok though.....I still like these pics.....even though they could have been better. Still so much to learn.....

I think this is the best picture out of all of them because it has the mood I was trying to capture.

Another Awesome Day!

Wow! Today was another awesome day! After VBS Andy, Michael, Jaymie and I went to the beach and we found 18 sand dollars,as well as a few other pretty shells. Today we didn't see any starfish, but there were tons of jellyfish washing up all over the place. I couldn't believe it! I've lived here since 1978 and I've never seen that many jellyfish on our beach. The ones that I have seen were tiny ones, but today we saw some really big ones! It reminded me of the big jellyfish we used to see on the beaches in Texas where I grew up. Anyway, it was another amazing day of enjoying God's creation and I loved it!

Beauty and the Beach

I think for me the wonder of the beach, is not the physical earth that God created.
God made it yes so we would know that He is, and while it truly was beautiful yesterday, I think that I got a glimpse of a greater Beauty.

It was not the waves, nor the sandy beaches, the sun in the sky or the birds in the air. But the beauty of a woman enjoying life there.

To see Debra leap with joy as she found another of God's creations, a gift just for her.
To see her run out into the shallows as the tide turned back chasing a possibility, discouraged but continuing on with a new hope.
To see the wind blowing through her hair, her rejoicing at a silly little sand dollar, her curiosity at her first starfish, yes like a child of the King, just happy to be a part of His Kingdom.

Today there was a Beauty at the Beach, and I know that God enjoyed her too.

Sand Dollar Heaven!

Today after vacation Bible School Andy and I went to the beach and fortunately we got there at just the right time. The tide was coming in and bringing with it, hundreds of crabs, shells, sand dollars and even some big starfish. I had a blast searching for shells and I did find 7 whole sand dollars out of the hundreds that were broken. It is so theraputic walking in the water and the sand searching for shells. I just love it! I feel like a kid again, everytime I find a sand dollar or a starfish or just a pretty shell and my heart leaps, as I race to pick it up. This may sound pretty silly to some, but as Andy reminded me today, he never thought I would be able to walk on the beach again, after my accident, so his heart also leaps when he watches me searching for sand dollars. It was so peaceful out there today even with the waves crashing in. I will never cease to be amazed at how something so beautiful can be so furosious and dangerous at the same time. I am thankful that God gave us the ocean to look at and enjoy, but I am also thankful that we have an appreciation for it's powerful and dangerous current. All in all, it was a great day!

I Love The Beach!

Isn't this a beautiful sunset? I took this picture about 3 weeks ago, while we were enjoying a day at the beach with Tim and Misty and their kids. To me there is nothing more beautiful than watching the sunset on the beach. I guess I love everything about the beach. I love playing in the water, watching the crashing waves, searching for sand dollars and shells, finding jelly fish, roasting hotdogs and marshmallows over a bonfire, walking barefoot with Andy, and I especially loved it when Andy surprised me and took me to the beach for some slow dancing in the moonlight for a couple of hours. We need to do that again. (hint, hint)

Fun At The Beach!

Andy and I had such a great time at the beach with Michael, Jaymie, Sunny and Baxter. It would have been perfect if Kasey could have been with us, but she had to work. We'll have to do it again soon when all of us can go together.
