So Inspired!

I've been watching The Biggest Loser Couples and I am so amazed at the dedication of all of the contestants. Not only is it an entertaining reality show with plenty of competition to keep you interested, but it's the success stories that are so inspiring and touching!

Jillian Michaels looks fantastic with her rock hard abs and toned body and while I have to admit it wouldn't hurt my feelings if I looked like that......for me that's not what it's all about......it's really about being healthy, feeling healthy and of course, looking healthy is just bonus!

For me, exercise is not a choice, but rather a necessity due to my injuries from my auto accident almost 7 years ago. Exercise is physical therapy for me, it keeps my muscles strengthened, keeps my energy up and literally keeps me walking and enables me to get around with ease.

My problem has been trying to find the right equipment because I have to have low impact. My favorite machine pictured above is the Eliptical because it is very low impact and I actually feel the least amount of pain while doing it. Now don't get me wrong......it is hard work.....I mean it's a killer, but I can burn double the calories in half the time compared to walking on my treadmill. I've learned a couple of tricks that make it easier for me though, I put a dish towel over it, so I don't focus on how many minutes I've been on it and I put in a good chick flick to watch and get lost in, to keep my mind occupied. Once in awhile I will peek at how many minutes and then I will almost hear Jillian telling me, "DON'T YOU QUIT........KEEP GOING........KEEP GOING.......YOU CAN DO IT!" So once I hit 30 minutes, I think.....I can do 10 more minutes and so on, until I hit 70 minutes. It's brutal, but I've learned to push myself and just push through the pain even when I'm having sciatic pain down my leg and I think it is almost unbearable. I always feel so good when I'm done and I feel like I've really made Jillian proud! One day I even did 90 minutes on it.......ok well, I haven't done that again!!! I've been known to overdo it, just a bit! LOL

  1. I heart Jillian Michaels and I heart the elliptical! You've been doing awesome with your workouts! Keep it up girl! Love ya!

  2. It's great to hear from you again! I love the Biggest Loser too and am missing it during the Olympics!

  3. Well I'm happy your finally back on! No ringing any bells (lol)! I have a stationary bike and feel just like I need to get on it! I know what you mean too. I'm sorry about your accident though. The issue I struggle with is my immune system (very real too) I do use the exercise tapes and enjoy Jari Love especially. Anyway..I missed you and am really happy your back- Regards, Regina-

  4. Hahahahaha, Michelle and Mari, I started this post sometime last month and never did finish it, instead I scheduled it to post in Feb instead of saving it to draft, thinking I would finish it and then get it posted. Well, I guess that wasn't a good idea, since I forgot about it and it posted without without my knowledge. I suppose this would be a good time to finish it, don't you think? LOL

  5. I forgot to say, though I've heard of this show, I've never seen it. Is this about weight loss and that? Must be good-

  6. Kilauea Poetry, Yes it is the reality show about weight loss and it really is good! I am so amazed at how much weight they lose each week. I think they workout for about 8 hours a day or something crazy like that! Wow! I've never heard of Jari Love, I'll have to google that.

I've really missed blogging too and unfortunately my computer is not up and running yet, but hopefully soon because it really is DRIVING ME CRAZY! LOL

  7. Hey, thanks for the response on my post. When it comes to weight or fitness, encouragement and testimonials help so much! Pilates are another one. I see the JM all over the net too. Collage Video is a good resource when you have time or when you can check it out- http://www.collagevideo.com/main.aspx
Ya, it seems I keep running into dead ends with my system but I'm working/praying on it. I've been using soy instead of dairy for quite awhile but found a lot of people have pretty bad reactions to it. I decided to eliminate it and see how things go?
Your accident must of been pretty serious? Sometimes its hard to push yourself, but then you feel so much better for it..just so you don't get soft and really tweak something!!
Anyway, hope your computer issue will be taken care of soon. Regina-

  8. Hi there..(I left a comment on my post too) I was thinking it might be easier to write the following here as it's a slim chance I'll be tracked..ha, not that I care anyway. I contracted Hep C through a double blood transfusion about the beginning of 1980. The last check there was no Cirhosis(it -hep c actually means inflamation of the liver). Anyway, I am stuck with so many of the problems just the same! The big one, aside from fatigue is the difficulty in digesting protein..anyway, my story..as I mentioned, I'm sorry to hear about yours. My Aunt & Uncle were involved in a head on and wow, did they ever have issues after that! I'm glad your making progress. Funny, I have some nerve damage in my leg as a result of why I landed in the hospital in the first place. Well, suffice it to say, we are pushing against gravity huh? Now I'm rambling!! Regina-

  9. I love the Biggest Loser also - what an inspiring show to help people live healthier lives!

I also need low impact workouts due to migraines. Do you recommend that machine for that? I currently use a stationary bike.

  10. So glad to see you back... yikes.. that machine hurts just looking at it.. *grin* good for you.

  11. I admire you for your tenacity. I'm rehabbing a knee after tearing a ligament from a softball game injury. I don't have any aerobic equipment in the house and I miss that part of working out.
