Thanksgiving Recipes!

Just thought I'd share the mashed potato recipe that I will be cooking with our Thanksgiving meal. I saw it on the Tyler Ultimate show, while I was sick on the couch and even with my stomach bug, I said, "Hey those look like they would really be good!" So I asked Andy to bring me a pen and piece of paper and I jotted down the ingredients. That was the only thing I accomplished, while glued to that couch for days. lol

Anyway, here is the link to the video where you can actually watch him as he cooks them.
Grainy Mustard Mashed Potatoes

And here is a link to the Recipe.

I can't wait to try them!!! If any of you try them, please let me know if you liked them. :)

As for the turkey, I'm still trying to decide on the recipe, but I think this one will be it Roasted Butter Herb Turkey My sister used this recipe the last couple of years and she said it is so moist and delicious! I will have one alteration though.....I will drape peppered bacon over the whole bird. I do this when I make turkey breast and oh yumm, not only does it flavor it so well, but it also makes it moist too.

Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!

  4. Summer, about those potatoes...I forgot to mention that the trick is to simmer them til they're cooked....if you try to boil them, you will have trouble with the milk boiling over.

Sara and Beth, we usually like to fry our turkey because hands down it is the most juicy and moist turkey we've ever had, but this year I wanted to do something different. I've never had smoked turkey, but it sounds delicious!

  5. Can you believe that several of us don't like mustard? I bet I could make those potatoes and leave it out though. The peppered bacon on the turkey sounds yummy!

  6. Oh yeah Mari, I'm sure they would be fabulous even without the mustard! I'm going to taste it before adding the mustard to see the difference and I might even only add the mustard to half of the potatoes to see which my family prefers. We LOVE mashed potatoes, so I suspect we'll like them either way! :)

  7. Oooh...those look so good, Debra! Hey, you asked how the portrait class was going. I wanted to tell you that you should be glad you are waiting to take it. It was too much for me to do right after Oh Shoot, and I had a hard time getting into it. We got sick and I got behind, and then it gets dark so early now. So, I just wanted you to know that. It is a REALLY great class, but I wish I had waited. Oh well.
