My dearest Sally, told me tonight that her doctor informed her yesterday, she only has possibly 5 months or less to live. After 9 years, since the first time she was diagnosed with cancer, she is losing the battle. My heart was aching, as I talked with her, prayed with her and cried with her. I told her that even though I selfishly don't want to lose her, the Lord knows best and He has decided that He wants her with Him. She has been quite a witness and an inspiration to me and everyone around her and I can't wait til she meets Jesus face to face and hears Him say, "Well done thou good and faithful servant." I know she will have many rewards, for the way she has honored Him and glorified Him, here on this earth!
Mom Sally holds a very special place in my heart! (she doesn't have any children, but she has always called me her daughter and I in turn, call her Mom Sally.) There is so much more I could say about this special lady, but seriously, there's just not enough room on here to say it all. Here are some pictures that Mom Sally shared with me awhile back, plus a few snapshots that I have taken of her.
I scanned this picture from her passport.....she was 27 yrs. old! Isn't she beautiful?
Pete and Sally! I think this might be on their wedding day, but I can't remember for sure.
Pete and Sally!
Another great picture of Pete and Sally!
1997 at Pete's Graveside service. Sally insisted that we take a picture with her by his casket. She has missed Pete terribly, since he went to be with the Lord!
Sally and Salvacion!
Mom Sally and me!
Christmas Eve 2007........Sally is still just as beautiful as ever!

I am so sorry to hear about your friend.
ReplyDeleteThat is sad news. I'm glad you've had such a faithful woman as a friend. Her memory will live on through you and those who loved her.
ReplyDeleteIt always angers me when I hear a doctor give someone X amount of time to live...as a very wise person once said, "God may have given doctors the gift of healing, but He didn't give them the gift of prophecy." We will all leave this earth when God says we will, not when man does. I am adding my prayers and love to precious Miss Sally... she is such an encouragement to me but how wonderful it will be for her and any of us to see our Lord, WHEN HE says it is time! Carol
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about your friend. My prayer are with you as you walk this difficult road.
ReplyDeleteNow that I have stopped shaking, I can add some more comments... I have seen too many people make what the doctor said a self-fulfilling prophesy and give up, and low and behold, it becomes true. And when we give up, we miss out on so many miracles, answered prayers, and supernatural moments. Thank God that Miss Sally trusts and loves Him! We need to be encouraged that He alone is in control! God, show Your power! Carol
ReplyDeleteThis is hard to read. Sally is a beautiful woman and has always been such a true lady. I'm glad you shared the pictures, she was quite a knockout! I pray that the Lord will give her comfort and that her time here will end peacefully before she steps through death to meet her Saviour.

Carol L. and everyone, don't worry Sally hasn't given up, she knows the Lord is in control, she is just accepting the fact that He might be calling her home soon. She has known that the cancer is not responding to treatment. The doctor has stopped her chemo treatments, so it is just a matter of time, while the cancer continues to spread. I'm actually glad she won't have to be sick from the chemo anymore....she said she is already feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI know that the Lord can intervene, if He chooses and I believe He knows what's best for Sally. As much as I don't want to see her go, I don't want her to suffer or continue on with no quality of life. She has been in anguish because she can't be out there being a witness and inviting people to church anymore. I know it has been very difficult for her, since she can't fulfill, what she believes is her purpose here on this earth.
It's never easy to deal with loss....I've dealt with my share, believe me, and I've experienced the complete peace that the Lord gives, during these painful times of losing someone so dear to your heart. It hurts A LOT, but if you let the Lord carry you through it, in time the hurt fades and you're left with all of the wonderful memories to cherish! The Lord knows our hurt and He is right here, ready to hold us up, when we feel we are going under and can't bear the pain! I want to share with all of you, these verses that have helped me through great loss and many difficult trials over the years...
(Lamentations 3:22-25) It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
i am sorry for you at this difficult time. i pray that you will have God's peace at this time.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts and prayers will be with you and Mom Sally. She looks like a wonderful lady! Praying for you even more!
ReplyDeleteOur precious Sally! My heart both weeps and rejoices at the thought of her "moving on" to be with the Lord! She is such a sweet lady! I cried at seeing the pictures of her and Bro. Pete!!! It has been so long. Our prayers will be with her as she draws closer to that day that only our Lord knows. We will pray that her pain will be little, her passing peaceful. I still remember the testimony of when our beloved, Pete went home. So beautiful, he truly stepped from this life to eternal life, the light so bright. Please give her a hug from the Houston family!!

Emily, I will give her a hug for you! Please pray that God will allow her to go to the Philippines to finish out her days. This has been her dream for a long time, so I am praying that God will fulfill this desire of her heart!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for her to get to be with Bro. Pete again, that I confess it's been difficult for me to be too sad this last year watching her. She still misses him so much, anybody can hear her love for him when she speaks of him. His funeral was the most awesome and exciting one I've ever been to. Although she will be missed by everybody, just think of her excitement upon entering heaven!!
ReplyDeleteOH precious Sally!
ReplyDeleteI have so many wonderful memories of Miss Sally and Brother Pete he was such a character! Sally has such a wonderful testimony for the Lord, what an amazing woman. The verse that comes to mind as I hear this news is II Timothy 4:6-7 "For I am now ready to offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:"
Please tell Sally how much we love her and send big hugs from the Ledford's to her. May the Lord give her peace, comfort and strength. Our prayers will be lifted up on her behalf!
I love the pictures of her and Pete!
All our love, Beth Ledford
Praying for you and Sally. :)
ReplyDeleteMichelle H., she has such a beautiful undying love for Pete, doesn't she? I agree with you....I think she will be so excited as she enters heaven and as I told her the other night....she will be so happy to see Jesus face to face!
