Starting To Feel Homey...

I will start by saying it's been a few very stressful days, as I was trying to make decisions on paint colors for the interior. I am a very visual person, so I felt like I was shooting in the dark trying to choose paint colors, before being able to see what it would look like with the flooring and cabinets and countertops in. Anyway, like it or not the task is done. If I made a mistake, we can paint over it later, after we are all moved in.

We almost finished all of the interior painting today......we only have 2 walls left to do in the master bath and the garage and that's it, besides some touching up here and there. When we left tonight, Dale and Loren were almost done with the wood floor, in the kitchen and dining room. It looks absolutely beautiful! Tomorrow morning the kitchen cabinets will be put in and oh man, I can't wait to see what they look like, with the wood floor! It already looks and feels, so much more homey, with paint on the walls.

Monday the granite tiles come in for the kitchen countertops and backsplash and we will be going to Portland to pick up the interior doors that day too. It's looking like we just might be moved in before Christmas. Yee Haw!

Thank you, Dale, James, Loren, Ron and Andy for all of the work that you did today. I know it was a long hard day and your time and effort is much appreciated. I'm so thankful for good friends and a good husband!

  1. DJ, I know that I sound like a broken record, but I am so excited for you to be in your house. I can't wait! You will have to have a house warming so that we can all come over and see it! :)

  2. I just hope Loren is better at putting in floors than killing pigs!!(ask him or Tim C for the gory story) On a more serious note, it will be good to know you and Pastor are tucked into a snug roomy home!!

  3. Michelle F. it's ok if you sound like a broken record. It's very sweet of you to be excited for us! A house warming sounds like a good idea....a good excuse to have people over and play hostess....haven't done that in awhile, so it would be fun. I can't wait to use my kitchen and don't be surprised if you catch me hugging my oven and my dishwasher. I will have to be sure and wipe off my lip prints each day, to erase the evidence, so people don't think I've gone mad and have some weird fetish for my appliances. LOL :-)

Michelle H. I'm not so sure I want to know the story about killing pigs, I mean I'm already cringing, as I'm imagining the gory details. EW! :( Right now a snug WARM home sounds good....brrr it is so cold in this little house. I'm trying to pretend it's a little cabin and this is fun, but it's not working because this isn't fun FREEZING!!! I can't get warm and I was almost tempted to spend the night in our new home on the hard floor because it actually has heat, but I decided I love my bed too much. I think tonight I will try and pretend we are sleeping in a tent in some beautiful snowy campsite out in the wilderness.....hey wait a minute that won't work because we don't have a bear rug or deer skins to help keep us warm. Where's my imagination? I guess I'll have to think of something else. Any ideas?

  4. I hear you!! Our furnace has been out for a few years now. At first it was fun to use the wood heat, but as the years go by, it gets more and more difficult to make myself face the freezing kitchen, laundry room, and even bathroom!! I'm praying that this is the last year! Although I prefer my bedroom on the cold side at night. Anyway, sounds as though you should be in your warm house soon!! WooHooo!

  6. Michelle H. I hope you will be able to get a furnace by next winter, it is no fun being cold. You can come over and use my dishwasher any time you like, until you get one of your own. Of course, I'm sure that won't be the same as having your own though.
